Ki, Chi, Prana, or Orgone Life-energy

Life-energy, also known as Ki, Chi, Prana, or Orgone is, many believe, the basic building block of life as we know it. Have enough of it pulsing in and around your body and you will almost certainly be healthy and vital. Have too little or too unbalanced life-energy and you will more than likely be unwell or depressed.
Thanks to some pioneering work over the last century or so, we are now starting on the path of being able to manipulate this energy for our own benefit. This has given rise to simple energy devices that effectively direct and balance this energy to heal anything from a sick person to a sick building, with startling results - like this:
P.E.BAL
"Before using the p.e.bal I had difficulty sleeping and after having had it a couple of nights found I was able to sleep for up to 7 hours. However I showed the p.e.bal to a relative who was very keen on trying it out. Hence I handed mine to her and she has found it is helping her in all sorts of ways - more harmony at home and at work. Hence I need to get another one for myself."
PENDANT
I was feeling like an energy-less zombie, unable to move. I was scattered with no motivation to work. Within 20 minutes of wearing the Nu-Me Pendant I felt energized, strong and centred and ready to run a marathon. so I went for a run and noticed my breathing was easier, my muscles functioning more effectively. Energy that felt like it was cramping me simply fell away. I sleep for a full six hours now having suffered from chronic insomnia. Now I wake up completely refreshed. I feel like a New Me has emerged! Nicola Grace, Auckland.

Basic principles of Naturopathy

In helping their clients, naturopaths follow a number of basic principles. Among them are:

Do no harm. Primum non nocere is a part of the Hippocratic oath. Naturopaths do not use harmful substances, such as drugs and pharmaceuticals, and do not rely on dangerous procedures, such as surgery.

Honor the total person. A person is never simply a headache, or a back ache, or a sore throat. Unless there has been an injury, seldom does any problems occur in isolation. Naturopaths understand that people are physical, mental, and spiritual beings, and that one “dis-ease” affects all areas of life.

Prevent “dis-ease.” In teaching their clients how to achieve a state of balance, naturopaths are helping them to remain healthy into the future. We do not become ill because we are exposed to a bacteria or virus, we are always exposed to the pathogens. We become ill because our internal environment is hospitable to pathogens.

What Is Naturopathy

Although the term “naturopathy” originated in the late 19th century, the art can be traced back through Germany into Greece, to Hippocrates himself, and even beyond. There have always been people who understand that healing will occur naturally in the human body, if it is given what it truly needs, the proper diet, pure water, fresh air, sunlight, exercise and rest. For these people, the emphasis has not been on finding a disease and killing it, but rather on helping the body establish its own state of good health. Today, these people are known as naturopaths.

While naturopaths recognize that allopathic medical care is, at times, necessary, they understand that many accepted allopathic treatments can be harmful. Allopathic philosophy holds that disease is caused by external agents, chiefly by bacteria and viruses. According to this belief system, a cure will result when these offending agents are eliminated. Also, the allopathic belief also tends to look at the symptom and the disease as one and the same, so that when the symptom has been eliminated, it is presumed that the disease is cured. The Naturopath, however, sees the symptom as nothing more than a signal that something is wrong. According to naturopathic belief, when a symptom alone is eliminated, it is most likely being suppressed. Unless the original cause has been eliminated, the symptom may return later in a chronic form.

In the Beat of a Heart: Life, Energy, and the Unity of Nature

For centuries, scientists have dreamt of discovering an underlying unity to nature. Science now offers powerful explanations for both the dazzling diversity and striking similarities seen in the living world. Life is complicated. It is truly the entangled bank that Charles Darwin described. But scientists are now discovering that energy is the unifying force that joins all life on Earth. Visionary biologists have advanced a new theory that explains how the natural world from the tiniest amoeba to the greatest rain forest is constructed, providing a fresh perspective on the essential interconnectivity of living systems. This revolutionary theory explains a variety of phenomena helping us understand why a shrew eats its bodyweight in food each day, why a mammal s heart beats about 1 billion times in its lifetime, why there are no trees as tall as the Eiffel Tower, and why more species live at the Earth s equator than at its poles. By looking at how living things use energy, we can answer these and myriad other intriguing questions. In the Beat of a Heart combines biography, history, science and nature writing to capture the exciting advances and the people who are making them that are triggering a revolution as potentially important to biology as Newton s insights were to physics.

What is Prana?

Prana or ki is that life energy which keeps the body alive and healthy. In Greek it is called 'pneuma', in Polynesian 'mana', and in Hebrew 'ruah', which means 'breath of life'. The healer projects prana or life energy or 'the breath of life' to the patient, thereby, healing the patient. It is through this process that this so-called 'miraculous healing' is accomplished.

Basically, there are three major sources of prana: solar prana, air prana and ground prana:

Solar Prana

Solar prana is prana from sunlight. It invigorates the whole body and promotes good health. It can be obtained by sunbathing or exposure to sunlight for about five to ten minutes and by drinking water that has been exposed to sunlight. Prolonged exposure or too much solar prana would harm the whole physical body since it is quite potent.

Prana contained in the air is called air prana or air vitality globule. Air prana is absorbed by the lungs through breathing and is also absorbed directly by the energy centers of the bioplasmic body. These energy centers are called chakras. More air prana can be absorbed by deep slow rhythmic breathing than by short shallow breathing. It can also be absorbed through the pores of the skin by persons who have undergone certain training.

Ground Prana

Prana contained in the ground is called ground prana or ground vitality globule. This is absorbed through the soles of the feet. This is done automatically and unconsciously. Walking barefoot increases the amount of ground prana absorbed by the body. One can learn to consciously draw in more ground prana to increase one's vitality, capacity to do more work, and ability to think more clearly.

Water Prana

Water absorbs prana from sunlight, air, and ground that it comes in contact with. Plants and trees absorb prana from sunlight, air, water, and ground. Men and animals obtain prana from sunlight, air, ground, water, and food. Fresh food contains more prana than preserved food.

Prana for healing

Prana can also be projected to another person for healing. Persons with a lot of excess prana tend to make other people around them feel better and livelier. However, those who are depleted tend to unconsciously absorb prana from other people. You may have encountered persons who tend to make you feel tired or drained for no apparent reason at all.

Prana in nature

Certain trees, such alpine trees or old and gigantic healthy trees, exude a lot of excess prana. Tired or sick people benefit much by lying down or resting underneath these trees. Better results can be obtained by verbally requesting the being of the tree to help the sick person get well. Anyone can also learn to consciously absorb prana from these trees through the palms, such that the body would tingle and become numb because of the tremendous amount of prana absorbed. This skill can be acquired after only a few sessions of practice.

Power places

Certain areas or places tend to have more prana than others. Some of these highly energized areas tend to become healing centers.

Weather
During bad weather conditions, many people get sick not only because of the changes in temperature but also because of the decrease in solar and air prana (life energy). Thus, a lot of people feel mentally and physically sluggish or become susceptible to infectious diseases. This can be counteracted by consciously absorbing prana or ki from the air and the ground. It has been clairvoyantly observed that there is more prana during daytime than at night. Prana reaches a very low level at about three or four in the morning.

Life Force Energy: Journey to explore the life force energy

We have established that there is life force energy - Yin/Yang - represented in the physical world by electromagnetic field energy and at the quantum level by electron spin characteristics. You will stop "belief" and "know" when you test it. How to test? Let me name the ways.

First, what is this energy? Can I touch it? Yes. Can I see it? Yes. Can I move it, receive it, give, build, select, start fires, store, refrigerate, etc., it? Yes, yes, yes.

In its gross form, your body is a chemical factory made up of a symbiotic colony of molecules with the potential and task of replication. That's it guys! At that level, your total purpose is reproduction.

The earliest life forms on this planet found to date are bacteria about three billion years old. Yes, that's a "B" for billion. These were not oxygen-using life forms. Such life had to await the "terra-forming" effects of blue-green algae on the atmosphere.

By the time of 500 million years ago, our planet had been oxygenated, and then a funny thing happened on the way to the Cambrian era; the life forms became SELF-AWARE! It's easy to guess how this may have occurred, so go ahead and guess. Whatever your guess is, it will surely be right, since everything that could happen, did.

Another odd but unavoidable thing about these molecules so intent on duplication involves the basic tenets of physics. Because they are made up of electrons, protons and neutrons, the self-replicating molecular colonies had and have electrical energy, emit electromagnetic discharges, and thereby interact in their small way with the universe.

Now, this small way is small only in comparison to the universe. The energetic little molecular, self-replicating, ever-expanding, ever-diversifying colonies found they were capable of anything. They figured out how to store information, "see" the electromagnetic spectrum, magnetic fields, heat, atomic fission, and so on, to include the total spectrum of events. They even learned how to "see" or "hear" the life energy emitted by other colonies.

Complexity built on complexity until... here the world is now. We look back on a mad rush of increasingly complex life forms racing, widening, and diverging to the seemingly frozen present and its crowning glory ...MAN! Believe it or not, we're still on that mad rush of change. Hang around a few hundred thousand years and you'll see.

Did you lose track of when we picked up Yin/Yang energy? Me too - well, almost. What happened was we didn't gain it, it's always been there. It's there in the life cycle of the universe, the birth and death of suns, the tiniest quark, meson, gnat, brat, or most inert rock. It gives the electron its individuality with left or right spin, it's the unified field theory searched for by Albert and so many others, it's the glue that holds protons intact, it's how come waves can cross a vacuum, it's you and me. For our purposes, it is infinitely available. Whatever your theory of creation may be, facts are statistics, are mutable, shift, waver, fade, change, etc. No matter what else we think, we cannot avoid the physical constants that glue the cosmos together both physically and metaphysically.

We as humans are not very specialized. We don't do much of anything well. We don't detect magnetic currents worth mentioning, can't see heat so we get our fingers singed often, can't detect radio waves without a bad dentist, can't notice the life energy emissions of others well or at all. We don't even smell keenly, but we sure can make tools.

At least we think we can. Our tools are the merest and grossest approximation of the superior job those little inventors, the self-replicating molecular colonies, can do. We can't even begin to think of a way to make a tool that will tell us how cockroaches know an earthquake is imminent. We're only beginning to discover the capabilities and awareness of other life forms.

We do, however, have something none others have. We are the ultimate (to date) generalists. We can do a little of everything. Humans are so varied and mutable we can train ourselves to anything. What would you like to learn? Whatever your aim, it's possible.

With training you can see the aura all life forms have. You can learn to detect magnetic fluxes, to see heat, to touch Ch'I, to feel the flow of Yin/Yang energy. You can even learn about yourself in your relationship to the cosmos. Do you dare?

Your Life Energy

People sleep to renew their life energy. The more relaxed their rest and sleep, the more easily their energy is increased. What other factors are involved with your energy level? Nutrition, emotions, posture, water quality, breathing, exercise, music, aromas, your thoughts and your deeds or simply seeing a movie can all have a bearing on your energy level. One of the most important factors related to your energy level though is your sense of purpose. One reason why many elderly folks lose their vitality for living is because of retirement! Work provides people with a sense of purpose, and when their work is removed, their energy level can drop dramatically. So find some purpose for your life - charity work, a new vocation or avocation, a goal, a hobby or a pursuit you always wanted to take up, or better yet, tune into your spiritual reason for being here. When your life has purpose, you will not only feel better about yourself, but your energy level will rise as well.

Understand that all factors are interrelated too, so if you improve one, the others must also improve. For instance, if you are nutrition oriented, beginning a diet of raw organic vegetables will increase your chi energy level, and in turn youĂ•ll also begin noticing improvement in your breathing, your posture, your emotions and the music you prefer. If you are exercise oriented, beginning a daily routine of good exercise and deep belly breathing will increase your energy level too, and in turn your nutrition, your emotions and your posture will tend to improve as well! Exercise also works well with children having a low self-esteem. Statistics have shown that creating basketball courts or gymnasiums in poverty stricken neighborhoods lowers crime and drug addiction in those neighborhoods.
